我觉得韩国人必须理解自己到底属于什么“种族”。在某些方面，我们是“大美国”的一部分，而在那个“大美国”里，种族是极其重要的。我们不是白人，也不是黑人。而“亚裔美国人”这个标签似乎又不能完全概括我们的感受。所以，我用了“灰白的”（off-white）和“类黑人”（blackish）这两个词。
